ALGIE ARCHITECTS NABS GIB ARCHITECTS REGATTA HAT-TRICK

With the entire fleet and a nasty squall snapping at its stern, the crew of the mighty Tamatea took the line and the Racing Spinnaker Division in the Gib Architects Regatta. The Mark Foy start saw Tamatea crew hunting down one boat and looking over their shoulders for the looming shadows of chasing keelers. Tamatea quickly closed the gap on the leading boat,  passing it shortly after the first mark. This year’s win was the third in a row for Algie Architects, all three on mulleties (2010 Taotane, 2011 Valeria, 2012 Tamatea) – proof, if any more were needed, that the mullety is king of the Waitemata Harbour. Thanks to the crew on the day: Robert Algie (Tamatea), Callum Dowie (Tamatea), Gary Murie (Tere Kanae), Mel (Valeria), Reggie (Orien II), William and Rata. Let’s make it four in a row next year.
